RMI Education and Skills Strengthening Project
The Government of the Republic of Marshall Islands has received funding from the World Bank for the Education and Skills Strengthening Project (ESSP) expense. It intends to use part of the earnings for consulting services.
The consulting services ("the Services") will assist the Project Manager and the RMI National Training Council in implementing the World Bank-funded job efficiently.
The task will focus on supporting the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in creating a structure for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for TVET, focused on assisting the College of the Marshall Islands and the RMI National Training Council evaluate and improve the abilities of workers through recognized college accreditation.

Women and Youth Training for
Gender Equality, Climate Change, Disaster Risk Reduction and Water Safety Management has recently happened at the University of the South Pacific's campus in Majuro, the Republic of the Marshall Islands(RMI ). This crucial training was arranged by the United Nations Development Programme( UNDP )Pacific Office through the Addressing Climate Vulnerability in the Water Sector(ACWA) project. The week-long capacity-building training intended to empower ladies and youth with the understanding and practices required for climate-resilient water security management in the
Republic of the Marshall Islands(RMI ). This training strengthens a dedication to enhancing RMI's water security and neighborhood durability against environment change effects, specifically females
and youth, ensuring that nobody is left behind. The training welcomed participants from all 24 atolls and included resource speakers from government firms, non-governmental organizations, and international development partners from the RMI Environmental Protection Authority, Climate Change Directorate, Office of the Chief Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Internal Affairs, National Disaster Management Office, Women United Together Marshall Islands, RMI Human Trafficking Task Force, Waan Aelõñ in Majel, Jo-Jikum, and the International Organization for Migration. In her opening remarks, Secretary for the Ministry of Culture and Internal Affairs, Brenda Alik, highlighted the significance of collective action in building a climate-resilient country."It is our responsibility to come together and collaborate. As we deal with the challenges presented by climate change, understanding its impact on our water resources is essential for improving the well-being of neighborhoods across the Marshall Islands,"she stated.
RMI Environmental Protection Authority General Manager Moriana Philip highlighted in her speech the vital function of ladies and youth in dealing with climate-related challenges."This workshop unifies us from different neighborhoods to address the pressing problems we face today, including climate-related obstacles, particularly on our water resources."We wish to highlight the essential function of women and youth in this task as your participation is instrumental to its success and beyond, "she stated.

. The Marshall Islands: Skills Training and Vocational Education Project Examines the performance of the project and highlights lessons. Offers inputs to two broader assessments- the local assessment of ADB assistance for the Pacific and the unique assessment study on Millennium Development Goals. The low instructional achievement and lack of Marshallese skilled workers were mostly due to the low quality of standard education, lack of access to education in the external islands, and weaknesses in skills training and the trade and technical education system.
These supported an economy marked by high joblessness because of constrained economic sector growth and federal government downsizing. Unemployment was especially high among the youth and females in the outer islands. Suitable regional competent workers for existing job vacancies
were not available, for this reason the importation of appropriately competent foreign employees. Thus, there was a mismatch between offered tasks and skills of the Marshallese labour force. These conditions provided the initiative for the Government
of the Marshall Islands to focus on technical and vocational education training reforms. In 2000, ADB approved a loan for $9.1 million to improve skills training to provide trained employees required for sustained economic and social advancement. This was to be accomplished through an integrated nationwide skills training system. The job included four components: development of a career awareness program, skills training improvement, enhanced skills training opportunities for ladies and youth, and institutional strengthening. The anticipated outcome was increased income-generating opportunities and employment for students, specifically ladies and youth in the external islands. Overall, the task was ranked unsuccessful. Limited progress was attained in making the job responsive to the requirements of its beneficiaries and private-sector companies. The long-standing weakness of bad numeracy and literacy competencies
among public elementary and secondary school graduates and dropouts entering college or attending voc-tech education could be partly attributed to the poor quality of standard education. The job was supply-driven and might not establish a strong linkage with private sector requirements or align its activities with the needs of the labour market. The status of the technical and occupation education training system has remained essentially the same after task conclusion. The research study advanced that ADB could motivate the Government of the Marshall Islands, through assessment and policy dialogue, to follow through on the federal government's
commitment to establishing a committed labour info system to link technical and trade education training program offerings with industry need.
